Ginger Morris

Ginger Somogie Morris is a certified dance and fitness instructor who has taught classes in New York State to children ages 2 through senior citizens for more than twenty five years. Ms. Ginger studied classical ballet techniques, including (Vaganova, Cecchetti and Balanchine), pointe technique, tap, modern and theatrical jazz. Latin dance, ballroom dance, country line as well as pilates mat and yoga. Ms. Morris studied under masters Dorothy Buck Snyder, Joffrey Ballet, New York City, Maureen Abazzia, Royal Academy of Dance, London, Irene Lander, American Ballet Theater, New York City, Leon Fokine, International Ballet Master and the Arthur Murray Ballroom Dance School in Fairfield CT (and with Arthur Murray himself). Attended the School of the American Ballet summer program, the official school of New York City Ballet. Ms. Ginger was a member of The Connecticut Ballet Company where she performed numerous soloist rolls in “The Nutcracker”, “Coppelia”, “The Jewel Ballet” and “The Masquerade Suite”. Ms. Morris has produced, directed, and choreographed her own rendition of “The Nutcracker” performed by her own Malta Ballet Company at The Empire Center at The Egg in Albany, New York for eighteen seasons. She worked with principals and soloists from NYCB, ABT, and Royal Ballet. She also was the director and host school for the children and teen division in the Capital Region for The Moscow Ballet’s production of “The Great Russian Nutcracker” for three seasons.

Ms. Morris also trained and studied with good friend and former classmate Tony Horton, creator of the popular P90X fitness program for Beachbody. As an Independent Beachbody Coach she is driven to live her dream as an advocate to address the obesity problem for our children and their future.

Ginger is very excited to have the opportunity to continue to share her talents throughout the community. Her passion for teaching, both dance and fitness, has led her to combine them together to receive a certification from Beachbody for their “Country Heat Live” group fitness classes now offered. All are welcome, weather a novice, advanced level member, or nonmember to step right in to this easy-to-follow, completely exhilarating, country dance-inspired workout set to the hottest country hits. You’ll have so much fun you will forget your burning mega calories and toning your body from head to toe!

Ginger is a healthy eight year breast cancer survivor, mother of two, and most recently, a proud grandmother. Staying healthy and fit is essential for her to spend quality time with her family.

The YMCA LIVESTRONG community building programs for cancer survivors to help improve their quality of life is just one of the many wonderful programs that she has had the privilege to instruct.

Ms. Morris strongly believes that the energy she brings to her private, semi-private and group dance and fitness classes is very contagious and motivational for all involved.

She enjoys very much reaching out to encourage all her students to safely learn and grow stronger every day in a kind friendly family environment.

Ms. Morris continues her passion for teaching dance and fitness to help others maintain their own personal health & wellness.
