Spa City Dance and the Arts

We do not just teach dance, we teach life skills that our students take with them for their entire lives. They learn:

• How to achieve long-term goals - They learn dedication to a skill that can take years to learn. Teaching them to apply themselves over a long period to achieve a goal, even when they may not feel like it in a specific moment.
• Teamwork - They learn how to work with others as a team. Every student has a part, whether they are in the center at the moment or not. Without all of them working together, the dance does not happen.
• Patience - I stress this a lot. A lot of students look to quickly move up in classes and skill levels, but the trick is patience. Each level utilizes the skills learned prior. The best dancers in the world are those who took extra time to master the basics, even if they felt like they were not as far as others. When the basics are mastered, they end up overtaking later on, and achieving levels of displayed skill that others are not able to.
• Confidence - Whether they are on the competition team, performing several times a year, or recreational, perfoming for show-and-tells and recital, they all learn how to face their fears and anxieties, and how to be confident in front of other people. When taught from a young age, they tend to find it far easier to lead others later in life.
